Blue Ridge Fifth Graders, in art teacher Sarrah Dibble-Camburn's Art
Club, are once again collecting money to help people heat their homes in the
winter. The students complete this project annually and over the past three
years have collected over $1500. This project is part of the Hexagon Project
(www.interdependencedaynepa.org)
where BR students created Hexagon shaped donation containers and will place
them in participating local businesses. The Hexagon Project stresses the need
to be interdependent. BR's Art Club defines that as helping our neighbors. The
containers will remain in the businesses for about 2-3 months collecting
change. The money raised will be donated to Susquehanna County Interfaith for
their Fuel Assistance Program to help people in need.
This is the largest group of Art Club members to participate and there is
much enthusiasm. The students love to create art and they feel good helping
someone at the same time. The Blue Ridge students have been working on this
project since the beginning of October.
If you see a Hexagon Donation Container please help us by adding some
change! If you would like to make an additional donation, please contact Sarrah
Dibble-Camburn at 570-465-3141 or dibbles@brsd.org.
