With the entire elementary helping to collect bottle caps for months, the students were able to create two large murals out of the recycled material. Both murals will be on permanent display in the school, but one of the murals will be part of the "Revived" exhibit at the Vintage Theater in Scranton, PA. The exhibit features recycled and re-purposed work and will be up April 22nd-May 5th. Gallery Hours are Thursday to Saturday, 12-6 pm.

Mrs. Orner's 1st Graders ~ Antique Roadshow Show & Tell

Antique Roadshow Show & Tell
Mrs. Orner’s class didn’t do an ordinary Show & Tell.  After talking about treasures and memories, students were given a Show & Tell assignment.  BUT this time, they had to do a little extra work….The Show & Tell consisted of “antiques” that students nowadays wouldn’t know about.  Students had a blast “showing & telling” about their antique that their family members provided.  Students were asked to bring the item in and answer a few questions about the antique.  They needed to tell how old it was and what/how it teaches us about the past.  There were vinyl records, an AM/FM stereo cassette player, an old mixer, a railroad light, a wooden level, a lantern, an old camera, and a Grandmother’s ring.  Students did a great job telling about their antique and the rest of the students listened and asked great and interesting questions!

Bottle Cap Art!!

This mural was crafted by fifth grade art club students. It was made out of recycled bottle caps that the students and staff from BRES helped the art club collect. The mural be heading to the Vintage Theater in Scranton, PA for a recycled art show in the beginning of May.
The students made drawings and then voted on their favorites to come up with the design.  It says "Every Child is an Artist."
