Searching for Chester

Mrs. Rhone's and Mrs. Skal's Kindergarten classes listened and discussed the story entitled, The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. The main character in this story is Chester, the raccoon who develops separation anxiety because Chester has to leave him mom home on his first day of school. After the story was read, a note from Chester fell out of the book. The note was a clue that asked the students to find Chester in the school. The kindergarteners continued to find clues around the school. The purpose of this activity was to give the students a fun tour of the elementary school and meet important people in our school such as: special teachers, nurse, cafeteria, principal and the like. Although the students did not find Chester because he crawled back into the book, the children enjoyed a treat that Chester left them. Below you will see a picture of Mr. Button reading the two classes the next clue!
