Understanding and Responding to Bullying: What Parents Can Do

In recognition of Bullying Prevention Month, the Highmark Foundation and its partners at the Center for Safe Schools and Windber Research Institute will launch a special web video, Understanding and Responding to Bullying: What Parents Can Do, on October 18, 2012.

Bullying is a national concern due to its prevalence and documented effects on health and learning. Parents whose children are affected by bullying may wonder what they can do to help. Others may wonder what they can do to prepare a child to respond when confronted with peer aggression.

This webinar will provide information about bullying, its effects, and how parents can help their children deal with bullying issues. It also includes information about the role of the school in addressing bullying and tips for how parent groups can initiate a bullying prevention partnership with educators.

The session is part of the Third Thursday Series presented by the Center for Safe Schools, which provides the most current research and relevant topics to the field of bullying prevention. The 2012-2013 series is supported with funding from the Highmark Foundation. Educators, parents and youth-serving professionals are encouraged to attend.

To view the web video beginning October 18th at noon, please go to www.SafeSchools.info.
