On October 2, 2013, Mr. Woodruff’s Second Grade had a special visitor. Zachary Rudock and his mother, Joann Parkinson, brought in their pet bearded dragon named Astro and a gecko named Hurley. Students were able to learn about and interact with the reptiles during their visit. Ms. Parkinson shared a fact sheet, answered questions, and allowed the students to hold Astro. The class also got to watch Hurley eat wax worms!
Second grade is currently reading an expository text in Reading Street called A Walk in the Desert. The text contains information about plants, animals, and weather found in deserts around the world. Mr. Woodruff’s class is also doing desert animal research to go along with the information learned in the text. In addition, we will be studying about different habitats in our next science unit.
