Music Opportunity!!

Each year, Singing Boys of Pennsylvania awards scholarships to promising students in grades 4-5-6, honoring the memory of Mavis Douglas, who sang at LaScala in Italy and in later years became a famous voice teacher.

The competitive scholarships are awarded to boys or girls who have an innately keen ear for music and sing with a natural vocal quality. A musical aptitude test measuring tonal memory and pitch discrimination ability will be administered Sunday, March 10, 2PM, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2745 Morgan Hill Road, Easton. The administration of the test takes 90 minutes. Students may also demonstrate their musicianship by playing a short piano piece or singing a hymn, short folk song such as Greensleeves, Shenandoah, Stephen Foster song, or America. Kids who like to sing are encouraged to apply.

Singing Boys of Pennsylvania and the Keystone Girls Choir rehearse in Easton, Wind Gap, and Hazleton. The Choir has sung more than 4000 concerts throughout the United States, parts of Canada and Mexico, England, Wales, and more than 300 concerts in Japan.

If you are interested, please have your child see Mrs. Burkhart for an application. Find out more about this very elite choir at http://www.singingboys.org/about
